Product Details

Does This Thing Count? You bet it does! All you need to do is weigh a sample amount of pieces, so the scale can know how much each piece weighs, then start counting. You'll be finished in no time.

Bright Backlit DisplayThis mini scale has a fancy, red, backlit display to help you see your weight readings, even in dim lighting. The best part is, you can choose to have the backlight on or off while you're weighing. So, if you're running low on battery power, you can weigh your things with the backlight off to save batteries, and money.

Hinged Protective WindscreenWhen you're weighing with high precision scales like this one, even the tiniest breeze can interfere with weight readings. This Jennings scale comes with an attached windscreen to keep out those pesky drafts. The protective cover is hinged, you just lift it up to get it out of the way.

Easy CalibrationThis scale comes factory calibrated and ready to use. Just in case you need to calibrate it, the VG 20 comes with easy to follow calibration instructions. Just use the included calibration weight to get the job done.

Energy Saving Programmable Auto-Off You can program the JSVG20 to turn off automatically after a few minutes of inactivity or to stay on until you turn it off yourself.

Tare FeatureThe tare button on the front of this digital jewelry scale can be pressed to "zero out" the weight on the scale. You can then add more weight, and the display will only show the weight of the items you're adding. This sure is useful when you want to use the cover as an expansion tray to weigh your things, or if you want to get separate weights of multiple items.

It Remembers The Last Unit You UsedIf your application needs weights in the same unit of measurement, (like ounces for instance), it can be a real pain if your scale always turns on ready to weigh in grams. It's a good thing the Jennings JSVG20 turns on displaying the unit of measurement you were using when you turned it off.

Man, This Thing Is Small! You won't have to worry about this scale taking up space. It's just under five inches long, and about one and a half inches thick! You can take this portable scale pretty much anywhere you want.

90 DAY MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY!If you have a problem with this scale, just send it to Jennings' warranty center in Phoenix, Arizona. They'll fix or replace your scale and send it on its way back to you within a week of receiving it. You should expect your replacement to arrive in about two to three weeks from the day you send the original off. Keep in mind that sometimes Jennings runs out of stock, which can cause a delay in the warranty replacement process.

Question
I need to be able to disable the auto off feature if it has on. Does it have one, and if so can it be disabled? Thanks

Answers
The manual doesn't specifically state that the scale has an "auto off feature", but in our experience, scales that operate on just batteries typically come equipped with an Auto Off feature in order to extend the battery life. Thank you for your question!

I'm so glad I decided to order a real name brand scale that has a real website with product info, etc. And I'm so glad I bought from a company that specializes in scales. The packaging was great, it shipped a couple hours after I ordered, and the scale really works extremely well. I use it to measure extremely precise dosages of supplements that I want to take a very consistent amount of to avoid side effects, and it is perfect for this.

First time I got to use the product, it won't maintain a zero. Wanders up, wanders down.i know all the tricks about static charge so that's not the issue. Put my powder funnel in place. 93.70 is its known weight. That it away... Shows negative 93.6, 93.65.
So far not impressive.

I use this scale strictly for reloading pistol caliber cartridges and am more than pleased with its performance. This scale outperforms my digital and two beam scales I’ve used for years. It dampens more quickly (almost instantly) and gives more consistent readings than any of the others. Although I prefer the extreme accuracy it provides +or- 0.05gn for reloading, it is really better suited for rifle cartridges. If you’re interested in how I reload read further.
The following method I use to accurately measure powder from any powder measure is as follows:
(1) When you receive the scale the dish is packed separately. Upon contacting Old Will Knott Scales I was assured the pressure required to press the dish onto the scale was safe.
(2) Do not use the plastic grain/gem bowl supplied as it is not static free (the powder will stick to it).
(3) When making plus or minus adjustments to the powder measure, cycle it a few times so the powder has a chance to settle.
(4) Size and prime a case.
(5) Turn on the scale and set it to read in grains.
(6) Zero that case on the scale.
(7) Charge the case from your powder measure (hopper).
(8) Weigh the case. The weight of the powder is now displayed.
(9) Do not return the powder to the hopper yet. Empty the powder into a container and tap the empty case onto the loading bench until it is clear of any residual powder.
(10) Using the same case, repeat this process several times with the same powder charge setting until you’re satisfied.
(11) Return the container of powder to the hopper.

Only complaint is it will count up in mg slowly over time while left turned on for a long period thus should optimally be repeatedly re-tared between weighs when this occurs which isnt such a pain to do a few capsules of supplement but doing a LOT of weighs under 50mg regularly, or needing better accuracy than within 5-10mg of your target you may want to invest in a higher price range as this one could get frustrating with a high volume of use.
My last one from here lasted about 6 years finally crapped out following loaning it out so I bought a new one the Jennings is still the cheapest functional "precision" milligram scale and overall worthwhile to meet most <20g personal precision needs on economy budget. To me says something to still go for the same scale years later if it ain't broke dont fix gets my small jobs done accurately. This Jennings scale model JSVG 20 is extremely accurate and sensitive to the tiniest product measured. It is easy to use, comes in a sturdy box to keep it safe and measures small quantities accurately. I would recommend it for the money. The directions are in very small print and it took me several readings to understand but once you know how to use it the scale is simple to use.

Great For Reloading

This scale is quite accurate when it comes to reloading and it's sensitive enough to trickle powder with, too! I've checked my loads with a balance beam scale and Hornady Digital scale and they are all dead on loads. When I trickle the powder, so far Varget, I'll stop about.05 Grains from where I want to be, like 25.55, trying to be at 25.60. Then I pick up the load and replace it and after it settles it'll be right at 26.00 grains, but I mean what's .05 grains? I don't know any Redding, RCBS, Dillon, Hornady, etc scale that has a readability of .05 grains. That's outstanding! Great scale for the money, and it may not feel heavy, and made from steel, but it's light, compact, and dang accurate, so five stars!

I bought this scale to weigh gemstones and I like the different modes for jewelry and the price was right. But I was shocked at the cheap plastic construction. I'm gemologist and I have a much better 100ct scale gemological scale that I left in my home country when I moved here. So I'm comparing this to that and other scales I've used. This falls at the bottom of that list. When I hit (gently)the power the scale tilts.I get multiple readings. I can see plastic mold marks and creases that should have been trimmed. The lid just fall onto the base, my other scale had a vertical closing lid but had a softer closing mechanism. I plan on returning this, hope that goes smooth..

Just received this scale to replace another scale I was using that did not give me the accuracy I need for reloading. I was very surprised to see it get here today, that is fast service, even more surprised with the scale itself. The box it comes in is extremely nice, not the usual cardboard box so many come in. Now for the test. I have an RCBS balance beam scale that is accurate but a little slow to use all the time. The JSVG 20 is very fast and very, very accurate. Several powder charges I weighed are exactly the same on both the digital and the beam scales. Just what I wanted and needed. For an accurate scale and a beautiful storage box this one can't be beat especially for the price and the super fast shipping. Thank you very much, I am a Happy Camper now.

I do needed a scale to reload ammunition. With traditional digital scales from shooting brands my bullet speeds varied too much. So I searched for digital scales that had grain units, that were not sold in firearms stores. A jeweler recomended me JS VG. I purchased a 20g model. Using this scale to measure powder and bullet for reload, my bullets speed had no big variation. I made measurements in a very accurate scale at the university lab of chemestry. Comparing the different scales I had, the JS VG showed significant similarity with the university scale. JS VG 20 is in my oppinion one of the best scales in the market.

I received the above scale a few days ago. I have already recorded hundreds of observations of weighing various tiny objects. The problem is that the scale is too accurate. The scale is too reliable. The readings are too consistent. I have tried over and over but the scale always remains perfectly accurate to its precision rating of plus or minus 2 milligrams. The scale is too perfectly calibrated. The scale is too well made. I will never be able to cheat my customers with a scale like this. I will never be able to pretend that I made a mistake. I will never be able to blame an error on the scale. I will be forced to take responsibility for my own mistakes. I would never want to do that. How can I possibly do business illegimately with a scale like this? I am going to return the scale and immediately request a replacement that is not nearly as good. Hopefully, I will have to pay more money for another scale that is very inaccurate. Why would any business person want to use such a perfectly accurate and perfectly calibrated scale like this? Why would any business person want to use such a high quality scale? I want a scale that is inaccurate. I want a scale that is not calibrated. I want a scale that will make significant errors. I want a scale that will quickly break down. I do not want a scale that will last. I want a scale without a warranty. Isn't it ridiculous to have a scale with a 20 year warranty? I do not want a precision scale like this. What will my customers say when they discover they have not been cheated? What will my customers say when they realize I am a legitimate business person? How will my customers react when they realize that I am being honest with them? What will I do when I cease to have any complaints? What will I do when I have too many referrals from my customers? What will I do when I have more business that I can manage? What will I do when I realize I am making a legitimate profit? I am sorry but this scale is giving me too many problems. I would rather pay more money for a scale that is inaccurate than less money for a scale that is perfectly accurate. I cannot possibly use this scale. I should have never purchased this scale. This scale is too good. With this scale I am being forced to have a legitimate business. Who in the world wants that? Thank you.
