Product Details

Does This Thing Count? You bet it does! All you need to do is weigh a sample amount of pieces, so the scale can know how much each piece weighs, then start counting. You'll be finished in no time.

Programmable Auto-Off Feature If you've ever had your scale turn off on you in the middle of important measurements, you'll realize what a blessing this feature is. You can program this jewelry scale to turn off automatically, or to stay on until you turn it off yourself.

Bright Backlit Display This digital scale has a fancy backlit display to help you see your weight readings, even in dim lighting.

Stainless Steel Platform The i5500 has a durable stainless steel weighing platform to make cleanup a breeze. Unlike gold or silver, stainless steel doesn't scratch easily and keeps its shine without rusting or tarnishing.

Easy Calibration This scale comes factory calibrated and ready to use right out of the box. You shouldn't ever have to calibrate this scale, however, easy to follow calibration instructions are included with this scale. You'll just need to pick up a 5000 gram calibration weight to get the job done.

Tare Feature The tare button on the front of this digital scale can be pressed to "zero out" the weight on the scale. You can then add more weight, and the display will only show the weight of the items you're adding. This sure is useful when you want to use an expansion scoop to weigh your things, and if you want to use the iBalance as a diamond or carat scale for weighing your tiny jewelry pieces.

Liquid Level Indicator This very handy feature helps you quickly and easily get your scale nice and level. It's important to keep your scale nice and level to get the most precise weight readings.

90 DAY MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY! If you have a problem with this scale, just send it to MyWeigh's warranty center in Phoenix, Arizona. They'll fix or replace your scale and send it on its way back to you within a week of receiving it. You should expect your replacement to arrive in about two to three weeks from the day you send the original off. Keep in mind that sometimes MyWeigh runs out of stock, which can cause a delay in the warranty replacement process.

Good Value, Somewhat Slow Response

We recently bought our second scale, to replace one we bought some years ago. The response is somewhat slow, but if someone can live with that, the ability to produce up to a gallon using the scale is a huge asset.

My Weigh iBalance 5500 (i5500)

We have had the My Weigh iBalance 5500 scales a little over a year now. I really do like them for weighing our snakes. It gives us accurate gram weighs to the first decimal to help us see how well they are growing. We weigh them every 2 weeks. I would recommend the scales to anyone who wants to accurately weigh whatever it is you need to weigh such as your animals, reptiles or even your food if you are on a diet.

Good customer service from myweigh but bad product

We bought a myweigh i5500 several years ago to use as a kitchen scale. We had trouble with the scale losing power when moving it around our counter. I thought it was just the power adapter, however, I contacted myweigh customer support, and they sent us a new scale. I thought that this was great.

The new scale seemed different. It seemed faster; however, it also seemed somewhat more unstable. It has been several months now, and the scale just has gotten worse to the point where I do not trust any of the readings off of it. Just today, with the scale reading 0, I put something on the scale and then took it off, and the scale no longer read 0, and no, I did not tare the scale with the item on the scale. I did this several times, and without the item on the scale, the scale gave several different 0 readings. In addition, putting an item on the scale and then taking it off several times gave significantly different readings each time, sometimes but 10s or 100s of grams.

I calibrated the scale several times with a 5kg weight as recommended. Even putting the 5kg weight on the scale and taking it off a few times gave vastly different readings each time, one was over 100g less than the calibration weight.

I checked to make sure there was nothing caught in the scale, but there was not. I do not know what is up with this scale, but it has become unusable.

I've been searching for an accurate and inexpensive scale that can weigh over 2 kilos. Everything I found in my searches were very expensive, cheapest was $2,000. I needed something that can measure in troy ounces for weighing precious metals. Then I found this site and this scale, it was perfect for what I was looking for. The two most important things was it goes up to 5500 grams and it reads in troy ounces plus the price was right. I've had this scale for a couple of weeks and so far I have no complaints and everything has worked flawlessly.

We needed scale that was more accurate the the ?2 grams we had on our old scale but could still provide a weight capability that reached at least 5000 grams. The iBalance 5500 gm x .01 gm resolution fit our needs perfectly. The display is clear and easy to read. The price is unbeatable.

I found my A&D Newton EJ-4100 to be such an excellent scale that I decided to buy another. While looking for it I came across this one, for $155 less, so I did some research on it. The downloaded user manual wasn't very helpful, so I used the OWK help to find out if the default weight unit was programmable. I was told: "It is not possible to set the default units on the i5500. The scale starts in Grams. The order is as follows: grams, ounces, pounds, troy ounces, pennyweight, carat then grains." Since my weighing use has the protocol of starting weighing in grams, then changing to and finishing in ounces, this seemed perfect for me. Unfortunately it turns out that the default unit is actually reset to whatever it was when the scale was turned off. Hence, I have to cycle through 7 options to get back to grams every time I turn it on. Annoying, but perhaps worth saving $185. But I've also found that there is a huge (several seconds) lag in registering the scale's reading. Hence it is not practical to monitor the weight readout as one pours more onto the scale, stopping when the target weight is approached. Instead I have to stop well before my target, wait several seconds to allow the readout to catch up, resume adding more slowly, stop again, wait, resume, hope I don't overshoot... Very annoying. I'm no longer convinced it was worth the money saved to get this scale instead of my favorite, the EJ-4100 (which has neither of the problems I've mentioned). But if the characteristics of its function don't bother you, the scale is very accurate, has a larger capacity than the EJ-4100, and costs just a little over half as much--a definite bargain.

An excellent scale. Quickly delivered and priced right. Like all scales make sure its perfectly level (very easy to do with the built in bubble) and let it warm up for a good time in a place without winter drafts. Of course calibrate it after its fully stable. I would recommend this product and Old Will Knott Scales to my friends. - Bill L. - Salem, NH
