It Has SmarText™ SoftwareThanks to this scale's special software, ya don't have to be a rocket scientist to get this scale working the way ya want it to. The SmarText software will guide ya through the whole setup process with text prompts. After ya have your scale all setup, the software will even guide you through different weighing applications. Advanced AutoCal™ Automatic Internal CalibrationYou won't have to worry about buying calibration weights for this scientific scale. This Discovery balance has automatic internal calibration that uses two internal weights to calibrate the scale. The Discovery will automatically calibrate with a significant change in temperature, and every 11 hours. This is gonna come in real handy, especially if ya don't like going through the whole . If ya prefer to calibrate the scale manually, you can do that too. Does This Thing Count?You bet it does! All ya need to do is weigh a sample amount of pieces, so the Discovery can know how much each piece weighs, then start counting. You'll be finished in no time. Average Piece WeightBefore ya start counting your pieces, ya need to let the DV314C know how much each piece weighs. Ohaus made this simple by averaging the weight of the pieces ya put on the scale. Just type in how many pieces ya put on the scale, and the scale will average the weights. The bigger your sample is, the more accurate the scale will be when counting your pieces. Dynamic WeighingThis analytical balance has a really cool dynamic weighing feature. This feature allows you to accurately weigh unstable items by calculating the average weight of what's on the platform. CheckweighingMake sure ya get your weights just right with this scientific scale's check weighing feature. When ya weigh in this mode, you can set weight limits for the stuff you're weighing. So, if your sample weight is too low or too high...the DV-314C will sure let ya know. Percent WeighingThis feature will let ya compare the weights of your samples against a predetermined reference weight. This can be helpful in weight checking, compounding, formulating and more. TotalizationYou can use this feature to repeatedly add the amounts on the scale together. This is a great feature if you need a scale with cumulative weighing for compounding ingredients or check weighing. Density DeterminationThis analytical balance has four different ways to determine density. You can determine density for solids more dense than water, solids less dense than water, liquid density, and density for porous materials. All ya have to do is enter a couple of parameters into the balance, the built in density table and mass measurement provides rapid and accurate results. No manual calculations needed. Gross, Net & Tare WeighingWhen ya weigh in this mode the scale will display the weight of the tared container, the weight of the items in the container, and the total weight of all items on the scale. This can come in real handy for many different applications. Pipette CalibrationWith this scale you can even check the accuracy and precision of your pipettes by weight analysis. Just select what liquid you want to test your pipettes with, the barometric pressure, nominal value, and the pipettes' unit of measurement. Once ya set up these parameters, just stand back and let the balance do the rest. Protective WindscreenWhen you're weighing with high analytical scales like this one, even the tiniest breeze can interfere with weight readings. That's why this Ohaus scale comes with a durable, glass windscreen to keep out those pesky drafts. Oh, and don't worry, this scale makes it easy to put your items on, or take them off, the platform. The top and sides slide all the way back. RS-232 Serial PortThe Discovery DV314 C has an RS232 port built right in. This is important if you're wanting to send your weight readings and other data to an external source like a computer or printer. Stainless Steel PlatformThis analytical balance has a durable stainless steel weighing platform to make cleanup a breeze. Unlike gold or silver, stainless steel doesn't scratch easily and keeps its shine without rusting or tarnishing. Weighing HookSometimes the thing ya need to weigh just won't fit on the scale's platform. Now that's a problem for most scales, but not the Discovery DV314C. This scale has a weighing hook built right into the bottom. This hook works by pulling on the weighing platform when an item is hanging from it, just like if ya were to put an item on top of the platform. This will come in handy for density determination, gravity calculation, and a lot more. Tare FeatureThe tare button on the front of this digital lab scale can be pressed to "zero out" the weight on the scale. You can then add more weight, and the display will only show the weight of the items you're adding. This sure is useful when ya want to use an expansion scoop to weigh your things, or if ya want to get separate weights of multiple items. Liquid Level IndicatorThis very handy feature helps you quickly and easily get your scale nice and level. A level scale is important for getting the most accurate weight readings.
