Where's The Weight Display? You're sure to notice the lack of a weight display when you open this scale for the first time, all you really see is the stainless steel weighing platform. But, never fear! This small scale has a really cool blue backlit weight display that slides in and out from the bottom of the scale. This means that the scale will take up less space when it's not being used and allows for a larger weighing platform.

Easy Calibration This scale comes factory calibrated and ready to use. Just in case you need to calibrate it, the XC500 comes with easy to follow calibration instructions. You'll just need to pick up a 500 gram calibration weight to get the job done.

The Protective Cover Does Double Duty! This small scale's hard protective cover is great for keeping your scale safe when you aren't using it...and it doubles as a nice expansion tray, increasing the area you have to weigh your stuff on. Since it has edges, you can weigh all kinds of things that would normally fall right off the platform.

Tare Feature The tare button on the front of this digital jewelry scale can be pressed to "zero out" the weight on the scale. You can then add more weight, and the display will only show the weight of the items you're adding. This sure is useful when you want to use the cover as an expansion tray to weigh your things, or if you want to get separate weights of multiple items.

Man, This Thing Is Tiny! You won't have to worry about this scale taking up space. It's just over three inches long, and less than an inch thick! You can take this mini scale pretty much anywhere you want...stick it in a pack, purse, or in your shirt pocket.

Stainless Steel Platform This digital pocket scale has a durable stainless steel weighing platform to make cleanup a breeze. Unlike gold or silver, stainless steel doesn't scratch easily, and it keeps its shine without rusting or tarnishing.

It Remembers The Last Unit You Used If your application needs weights in the same unit of measurement, (like ounces for instance), it can be a real pain if your scale always turns on ready to weigh in grams. It's a good thing the ProScale XC-500 turns on displaying the unit of measurement you were using when you turned it off.

Auto-Off Feature If you have ever had the batteries in something run out because you forgot to turn it off, you'll realize what a blessing this feature is. The XC 500 will automatically turn off after a few moments of inactivity, saving battery power and money.

90 DAY MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY! If you have a problem with this scale, just send it to ProScale's warranty center in Phoenix, Arizona. They'll fix or replace your scale and send it on its way back to you within a week of receiving it. You should expect your replacement to arrive in about two to three weeks from the day you send the original off. Keep in mind that sometimes ProScale runs out of stock, which can cause a delay in the warranty replacement process.

Current scale frustrates as I am carefully weighing out a liquid and the scale shuts down to save battery. How long does this scale wait till it shuts off automatically?

The ProScale XC-500 will automatically turn off after about 60 seconds. Thanks for the question!

Before I even received the scales I knew they would be perfect. I spoke to a gentleman who listened carefully and was thoughtful and helpful. With a few questions he managed to help me know what it was I actually wanted! The scales are perfect and and an excellent price. thank you!

Nice Improvements

I just got my second of these. It's really nice to see the improvements in this scale: it stays on for a much more useful length of time (60 seconds) and its readings are solid. I would venture to guess that the software has been upgraded to average vibrations out and to take its time before changing its display. The .01g decimal doesn't jump around like it used to. This is a nice scale with a phenomenal range.

Like the previous reviewer mentioned, it's a bit funky. It's not a scale you will love. Note that it will NOT work with rechargeable batteries. I can live with it for the occasional weighing I do and the price.

Intriguingly compact and low cost scale, but problematic

I purchased several of these scales for use in an educational physics lab. Their compact size, low cost, and relatively high capacity for a 0.01 g resolution seemed to good to be true. Looks like it was. The auto-off feature is extremely annoying. It turns off in only about 30 seconds even with activity (although it claims it only turns off with inactivity, just not true), and when you turn it back on, it auto-tares to 0! That's right, it turns off constantly and then doesn't remember the reading before you turned it off! Also, at least one of the 22 scales I bought behaves very strangely. A lot of the time when you press the tare button, the reading oscillates wildly, and will eventually stop at some non-zero number. After multiple tries, it will zero properly. It was about a fourth of the price of the next cheapest acceptable scale, but I guess you get what you pay for.
