Chrome Plated Plastic Design The Salter 051 has a chrome plated plastic body that looks great and is super lightweight.
Large Weighing Bowl, Great For Recipes! If you're having a tough time getting consistent recipes, you should try weighing out each ingredient with this Salter kitchen scale. When ya weigh what you're putting into your mixes, you have a better chance of your recipes coming out the same each time. And the best part is...no more measuring cups! Just weigh your ingredient, set the scale back to zero, and weigh the next! This kitchen scale can handle up to two pounds of ingredients.
Tare Knob This diet scale has a handy little tare knob on the back that let's ya set the scale's dial back to zero after putting something on the scale. This is great for using the included weighing bowl, or if ya want to get separate weights of different items.
Dual Reading Dial Doesn't it get on your nerves when one recipe calls for ingredients in grams and the next recipe calls for ingredients in ounces? Well with this food scale, that won't be a problem. The dual reading dial on the Salter 051 displays your weights in both grams and ounces simultaneously...you'll never have to worry about switching back and forth between units again.
10 YEAR MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY! Salter provides a ten year warranty on every scale they make. So, if ya have a problem with your scale, just send it to the Salter warranty center. They'll fix it or replace it, and send it right back.

Ordered the Salter 051. Received it promptly; however, got damaged in shipment. Called the company and spoke with the must polite gentleman. He asked me what the problem was and then told me he would get another one out right out. Sure enough, I received a replacement a few days later. Very happy with this inexpensive scale. Thank you!Reviewed by: Kaye from Kingsport, TN on (1/12/2016)
I received the scale on time and the package was easy to open and it was easy to assemble the scale. It measures the food items very accurately. Excellent product!Reviewed by: Marge from Connecticut on (8/7/2015)
I have used one of these scales regularly to weigh ingredients, help my kids with science projects and guestimate the weight of small packages and skeins of yarn. It's been fairly reliable, easy to use and durable. I'm only getting a replacement because the bowl got dropped one too many times by my kids and is cracked, and I haven't found another scale like this one in the local stores. I would be lost without it.Reviewed by: Morna from Texas on (3/21/2015)
We bought three of these to use for customers to weigh out greens etc at CSA (community supported agriculture) distribution points. It's a *very* lightweight scale,so we'll see how long they last, but the look is nice and it's big enough to be useful while still maintaining a pretty high resolution on the dial. The tare knob is right on the back, but out of the way enough to avoid inadvertent changes. For our purposes (mostly greens) I wish the tub was at least a third bigger--it's much larger than other models of this size, but still won't hold a loose 1/4 pound of spinach unless the spinach is in a bag. I would--and probably will--buy more.Reviewed by: Luke from Upstate NY on (7/8/2012)

A: You can place the bowl portion only in the dishwasher. The rest of the scale is not dishwasher safe.Answered by: Jamie Szurgot (5/29/2014)
A: Hey there Irving,
If you count eight notch markings on the inside of the circle, the eighth one is the 4 oz mark. It is the first bold marking on the inside of the circle. The next marking is 8 oz, then 12 oz, then 1 pound denoted by a large number "1."
