Scale Recommendation Series - Hobby Scales

by | | 0 comment(s)

Lots of people have hobbies and lots of hobbies can benefit from the use of a digital scale. Coin collecting, pinewood derby racing and RC vehicles are just a few. This week we're going to look at some scales that will work great for the aforementioned hobbies, but can also work well for other hobbies, too.

The Triton T2 200 and the iBalance iM01

Coin collecting is still a pretty popular hobby and some counterfeit coins can only be discovered by weight. If you're out hunting for coins, you don't want to bring a giant scale with you. Use the Triton T2 200 digital pocket scale instead. It has a 200 gram capacity with 0.01 gram precision and is made for travel with its snap shut case and compact design. Its footprint is barely larger than a dollar bill and it's less than an inch thick. If ya prefer to do your weighing at home check out the My Weigh iM01 precision scale. The iM01 has a high capacity that can handle bags of coins, (up to 1000 grams!) plus a 0.01 gram precision that can still measure single coins.

Maybe you don't need that kind of precision, though. Maybe a tenth gram scale is totally fine. Get the best of both worlds with the Triton T2 XL. This scale is larger, but still portable with the same snap shut case as the Triton mentioned earlier and the same 1000 gram capacity as the iM01. You can even use the cover as an expansion tray to handle the bags of coins you might be weighing.

The Pinewood Derby Scale

We've gotten so many requests for a pinewood derby car scale, we created a product ad just for that use. The Pinewood Derby Scale has a 10 ounce capacity, 5.9 by 5.4 inch platform and has an optional power adapter you can use if ya don't want to go through any batteries. If ya happen to be into coin collecting and pinewood derby racing, the Triton XL really shines for this application, too. The hinged cover is the perfect size for weighing the car body and the capacity is more than enough to take care of that five ounce weight limit.

The My Weigh Maestro

If you're into RC hobbies like cars and planes, you've probably found yourself in need of a scale to weigh small parts for your vehicle, and a scale to weigh the whole vehicle itself. Instead of buying two separate scales, go with the new My Weigh Maestro! It can weigh up to 17 pounds on the large platform and up to 200 grams with 0.1 gram precision on the small, pull-out platform. The display even pulls away from the platform for weighing larger vehicles.

These are just a few examples of how digital scales can be useful. Chances are your hobby can make good use of a scale, too.

Take care,
Shala
