Have owned the scale for around a year and my primary use is to weigh yeast and salt for baking and also weighing tea.

Yesterday when I about to make and measure out some tea, when turning it on it displayed 3 decimal points. Recycled the power button a few times and the fault remained. Attempted a calibration and that was not working properly and it would not calibrate.

I checked the company website and read their FAQ which said most returned scales simply were returned for bad batteries. I had 2 AAA battery on hand, One was a Duracell and the other was an EverReady. The length of these 2 batteries were too long to fit. The Duracell was a tad too long compared to the original Chinese batteries and the EverReady. I tried the EverReady battery with one of the original Chinese batteries inserted first under the scale back cover and then received a low battery message.

Today I went out and purchased new EverReady AAA batteries. Here's the major issues - Duracell batteries are not acceptable because they're a couple of millimeters too long. The EverReady batteries turned out to have a circumference too wide and I now have an EverReady battery stuck inside the scale. If you can't replace the batteries, I see no point in owning this scale.

The Chinese batteries are branded Freego and I'm assuming they are Chinese because that is where the scale is made. And I am not asserting products from China are inferior. There is the possibility that with China using the metric system their manufacturing tolerances may be better than ours in the USA.

I see little point in sending the scale in for service and incurring postage fees with the battery size issue remaining unresolved in the long term.

Despite my scale issues, I still consider Old Will Knott Scales an excellent merchant.

My current issue is, what to replace the scale with.

only had this scale a week but so far it is every thing I needed. And I use it every day to check the weight of my shot and powder when loading for skeet. Easy to change from ounces to grains without recalibrating every time.

Received quick response and delivery. Have put this scale to good use for coins. Will also use it to test powder charges for reloading. It's everything that "Old Will Knotts" said it was, plus a discount. Can't beat that.

It drifts.

The reading drifts/changes when the scale is left alone for several seconds. Not sure of the final or correct reading. The drift is on the one hundred'ith digit.

I found this scale to do exactly as advertised. Coming from a metrology background I was leery about a scale that costs so little. Having the weights to use for standardizing and verification was a real plus. Repeatability was also better than expected. I had some items that were larger than the platform, but was able to use the TAR function to get an estimated weight. I say that because my items had odd shapes so repeatability/stability became an issue. Overall, I'm very pleased. AND I was called buy Old Will Knott Scales prior to filling the order to verify my credit card hadn't been stolen. Great job of caring!!
