Product Details

Aquatronic Feature Lots of kitchen scales only let you weigh dry ingredients, but not this one. The Taylor 1053 digital food scale can measure both wet and dry ingredients...It's the ultimate recipe scale!

Touch Key Operation You won't find any buttons on this digital food scale. The 1053 has sensor touch technology that lets you simply place your finger on the key you want to operate. You won't have to worry about water damage, gunk getting stuck under the keys, or buttons breaking.

Perfect For Recipes! If you're having a tough time getting consistent recipes, you should try weighing out each ingredient with this Taylor kitchen scale. When you weigh what you're putting into your mixes, you have a better chance of your recipes coming out the same each time. And the best part is...no more measuring cups! Just weigh your ingredient, set the scale back to zero, and weigh the next! This sleek kitchen scale can handle up to eleven pounds of ingredients.

Glass Weighing Platform This digital food scale has a glass weighing platform for measuring the weights of food portions and ingredients. Glass platforms are great at resisting stains and odors and this scale's top is one solid piece, so cleaning is a breeze.

Tare Feature The tare button on the front of the 1053 kitchen scale can be pressed to "zero out" the weight on the scale. You can then add more weight, and the display will only show the weight of the items you're adding. This sure is useful when you want to use a plate or bowl to weigh your food.

Energy Saving Auto-Off If you have ever had the batteries in something run out because you forgot to turn it off, you'll realize what a blessing this feature is. The Taylor 1053 will automatically turn off after about 55 seconds of inactivity, saving battery power and money.

It Remembers The Last Unit You Used If your application needs weights in the same unit of measurement, (like ounces for instance), it can be a real pain if your scale always turns on ready to weigh in grams. It's a good thing the 1053 White turns on displaying the unit of measurement you were using when you turned it off.

1 YEAR MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY! Taylor provides a ten year warranty on this kitchen scale, so if you have a problem with your 1053 send it in to the Taylor warranty center. They'll get a replacement sent right back to you.

Nice kitchen scale

This scale takes up less counter space than my older scale. I like the 11-pound capacity, which is higher than a lot of kitchen scales. I do find it impossible to position a dinner plate where I can see the display, which makes it hard to weigh out equal portions.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but the curvy line dividing the weighing platform from the display is just part of the graphics. In reality the top of the scale is a single sheet of glass. The display and touch-sensitive buttons are under the glass, which makes the scale surface easy to clean with a damp rag without worrying about damaging the electronics. (That's been a problem with my previous kitchen scales.)

I took off one star because the fluid ounce feature ain't worth a hill of beans. Apparently someone in engineering didn't get the memo that a fluid ounce of water doesn't weigh exactly an ounce. (Or maybe it was marketing that didn't listen to the engineering folks--like that never happens!) I first noticed it when I tried to weigh out a cup of water (that's 8 fluid ounces, or about 8.33 ounces by weight). The water wasn't even close to the 8-ounce line on the measuring cup. My first thought was that the scale was out of calibration, but it checked out against my older scale. Then I realized that the scale was giving the exact same reading in "fluid ounces" as it did in "ounces," which is just plain wrong. The only difference is that when the scale reads 24 "fl oz," it reads 1 lb, 8 oz on the "oz" setting. Actually, a lot of times I prefer to see ounces instead of pounds and ounces, so I will probably be using the fluid ounce setting a lot.
