Product Details

Dishwasher Safe Plastic Weighing Bowl This digital food scale has a large plastic weighing bowl for measuring the weights of food portions and ingredients. The bowl holds 3.25 liters, and measures 9.25 inches in diameter at the opening, 5.2 inches at base and is 4.25 inches in height. It's nice and roomy and perfect for recipes!

It Remembers The Last Unit You Used If your application needs weights in the same unit of measurement, (like ounces for instance), it can be a real pain if your scale always turns on ready to weigh in grams. It's a good thing the i5000 turns on displaying the unit of measurement you were using when you turned it off.

Removable In-Use Cover The My Weigh iBalance i5000 comes with a removable in use cover to keep the display and keys protected from spills.

Net And Gross Weighing This table top digital scale has a very handy feature that lets you weigh and item, set the scale back to zero, then weigh another item. After you weigh what you need to, hit the NW/GW button to see the total weight of everything you put on the scale. This sure is useful for mixing up recipes!

Auto-Off Feature If you have ever had the batteries in something run out because you forgot to turn it off, you'll realize what a blessing this feature is. The i5000 will automatically turn off after a few moments of inactivity.

Really Cool, Reverse Lit Display The i5000 has a bright, reverse lit display. You'll have no problem reading this precision scale, even in the dimmest lighting.

Does This Thing Count? You bet it does! All you need to do is weigh a sample amount of pieces, so the scale can know how much each piece weighs, then start counting. You'll be finished in no time.

Tare Feature The tare button on the front of this digital food scale can be pressed to "zero out" the weight on the scale. You can then add more weight, and the display will only show the weight of the item you're adding. This sure is useful when you want to use the included weighing bowl.

90 DAY MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY! If you have a problem with this scale, just send it to MyWeigh's warranty center in Phoenix, Arizona. They'll fix or replace your scale and send it on its way back to you within a week of receiving it. You should expect your replacement to arrive in about two to three weeks from the day you send the original off. Keep in mind that sometimes MyWeigh runs out of stock, which can cause a delay in the warranty replacement process.

Good, but missing a feature

Scale is easy o use and seems accurate. At this price point, one would think is would have a higher resolution (e.g. 1/10 of a gram). it does not. For others considering a scale for cooking baking, and want real accuracy, seek one that can measure in 1/10 of a gram increments. this one does not.

I like this scale for the most part, but there are a couple "features" that I'm not wild about. First of all, the timeout function turns the scale off automatically, which I appreciate because it helps save the batteries. However, it is irritating that the weight on the display resets to zero when I turn the scale back on after a timeout. It would be really helpful if the weight were held in the scale's memory when the scale turns off. I frequently get interrupted by my children in the middle of measuring an ingredient, and it's a real hassle to lose count after getting called away for a couple minutes. The other mildly irritating "feature" is that the scale can't remember that I measure in ounces, not grams. Whenever I turn the scale on, I need to hit the button on the far right to get it to the correct unit of measure...and then when the scale turns off after 2 minutes of inactivity (as above), I not only lose the weight I've built up on the scale, but also have to reset the UoM. Irritating enough that I'm considering switching my recipes over to metric. FWIW, my old scale held both of these things--the weight and UoM--in memory when it turned off. Still, I'm moderately happy with this scale. The precision is better than the last scale I had, so that's an improvement. It's also easy to clean, and the count feature is pretty cool, although I don't know how often I will actually use it. On the downside, the display isn't really that easy to read--a big bowl overshadows it. Also, the included plastic bowl is pretty flimsy, but I didn't buy this scale for its bowl.

I've used a My Weigh i5000 balance for several years, primarily in the kitchen for weighing flour for bread making, but also for counting pieces for mailing. The scale is fast, accurate, and consistent.

This one is a gift for my mother who has seen me using mine and wanted one for herself. It is very precise. Repeated measurements always give the same value (to the gram). I never use the bowl that comes with it. I usually just use the KitchenAid mixing bowl. I like annotate my favorite recipes (which use volumes) with the weights to use, and I don't get any measuring cups dirty. The only annoyance is that the auto shutoff is a little quick.
