Useful Weighing Bowl The CJ4000 includes a weighing bowl for all those tough weighing jobs that require a container. The bowl holds approximately 750 milliliters, and is 8.4 inches by 6 inches. This bowl can also double as a dust cover for the scale when it's not in use.

Energy Saving Programmable Auto Off If you've ever had your scale turn off on you in the middle of important measurements, you'll realize what a blessing this feature is. You can program the CJ to turn off automatically after about two minutes of inactivity, or to stay on until you turn it off yourself.

Bright Backlit Display This table top scale has a fancy backlit display to help you see your weight readings, even in dim lighting. Not only that! This digital scale's display will tell you if you pressed the tare button, and the unit you're weighing with.

Does This Thing Count? You bet it does! All you need to do is weigh a sample amount of pieces, so the scale can know how much each piece weighs, then start counting. You'll be finished in no time.

Tare Feature The tare button on the front of this diet scale can be pressed to "zero out" the weight on the scale. You can then add more weight, and the display will only show the weight of the item you're adding. This sure is useful when you want to get the weight of each ingredient for that delicious recipe.

Stainless Steel Platform This compact digital scale has a durable stainless steel weighing platform to make cleanup a breeze. Unlike gold or silver, stainless steel doesn't scratch easily, and it keeps its shine without rusting or tarnishing.

It Remembers The Last Unit You Used If your application needs weights in the same unit of measurement, (like ounces for instance), it can be a real pain if your scale always turns on ready to weigh in grams. It's a good thing the CJ 4000 turns on displaying the unit of measurement you were using when you turned it off. This can come in real handy if you want to use the CJ4000 as a postal scale.

90 DAY MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY! If you have a problem with this scale, just send it to Jennings' warranty center in Phoenix, Arizona. They'll fix or replace your scale and send it on its way back to you within a week of receiving it. You should expect your replacement to arrive in about two to three weeks from the day you send the original off. Keep in mind that sometimes Jennings runs out of stock, which can cause a delay in the warranty replacement process.

I'm a better baker now

Based on the recommendation of a baker friend who has used this scale for years, I purchased this scale and am absolutely delighted. I love that I can choose my measurement, that I can place a container on the base and then set to '0', my focaccia bread is lighter, happy, happy, highly recommend.

Works well...priced right

I have 'tested' this scale with calibrated weights (borrowed from a friends store)...and it is almost spot on perfect. A few very small variations at either extreme end of the scale...very light...very heavy. It is more than good enough for most things...and it won't break your checkbook.
I have had Jennings scales for quite a while...they have worked well and not varied in accuracy over several years use.
Had I not drop my last one from the top most cabinet onto a hard floor...I would still be using it.

Good Accurate Kitchen Scale

I'm pleased with the Jennings CJ4000. You need to be a little more careful with it than you do with the typical kitchen scale: keep the scale covered (with the included cover) when not in use; be careful not to drop anything in the gap around the weighing platform; not place anything on the scale before turning it on. But then you get an accurate, consistent weight that doesn't jiggle around +/- a gram or two, and doesn't require repeated weighings to get a "best guess". I you don't need that 0.5 gram accuracy - if +/- a gram or two is close enough for your needs, then this may not be the scale for you.

Best of the under-$50 kitchen scales

Bought one of these long enough ago that I can't remember when. The tare button is starting to require a lot of pressure to register, so I'm back for a replacement.
This scale had no issues with getting wet, including spills on the buttons/readout panel - and had a bar along the left side of the readout to show how close I was getting to overloading the scale. Pretty handy when you're looking to measure out of a big canister of flour. Just gradually put the object down, if the bars get to the top (which never actually happened to me) don't put it all the way down, lift off the scale. At .5g resolution and 4kg max, a very nice compromise for a kitchen scale. I'm careful when I bake but I have never needed closer than .5g accuracy.
I'd take a half star off because the scale didn't outlast me, but it's otherwise a five

Jennings CJ-4000

I had bought one of these about a year ago for crafts and loved it. I had a Salter for my kitchen needs but it drifted about over time and I was always having to rezero it. So I bought a CJ-4000 to replace it. It drifted worse than my Salter! I was so upset! I called the help line (Sorry, I can't remember the nice women's name). She walked me thorough a few checks and when nothing helped she created a new order for a free replacement! Didn't even have to pack up the old one and send it back (the new one is sent without the battery compartment cover and I was instructed to use the one from the bad unit)!
The service with this company is great! If I need another scale this website is where I'll come! Thank you so much!

Great Scale, and the price is good as well

We were making soap, and had another electronic scale. The "other brand" would turn off after 30 seconds. That was creating some scary moments when dealing with a strong lye solution. We decided to order this scale, and it's perfect. It has an option to disable the power down function. It's quick, has tare, count and a few other features our "other brand" didn't have. Works great, came with batteries and a power adapter.

If you need a good scale, and want to save a few bucks, consider this one. I would definitely buy this scale again.

CJ-4000 after 4 years of wieghing Rocks and Minerals

We bought this unit 4 years ago from Will Knott Scales. We have a rock and mineral shop and have literally weighed thousands of rocks and minerals on this unit without ever having a problem. The accuracy of this scale has been consistent from the first day we turned it on. It takes a beating and remains accurate. We test the calibration monthly. The batteries last a long time. We absolutely recommend this scale for weighing rocks and minerals!

When I ordered it the description stated charger not included, and I forgot to include the charger (arrgh!). Jennings CJ4000

I purchased the Jennings Model CJ4000 scale from Old Will Knott Scales and the customer service is outstanding. My order was handled promptly and I received the scale within three days from my initial order. I bought the scale for it's 4000 gram or almost 9 pound capacity and it's 0.5 gram or .018 oz resolution. I have not been disappointed in it's accuracy. The reason for my purchase is to weight backpacking equipment. My treks include hundreds of miles at a time and it is extremely important to know how much each item I carry weighs so I can keep my overall weight to a minimum. The scale runs on batteries and comes with an AC adapter and cover. If one is to maintain the accuracy of the scale it is important to keep the scale covered to protect the platform from dust and debris. It also has a backlit display, which is a great feature, and a tare feature that I can use to measure the total weight of all the ingredients in my trail recipes. Excellent service and an excellent product. You won't be disappointed with Old Will Knott Scales.

Good for backpacking gear

I got this scale to weigh food and gear for backpacking. It serves the purpose very well. I can easily compare light items like plastic drink bottles to pick the lightest gear. It's great for assembling equal-weight packages of food for each day.

I got this scale the better to doctor my tennis racquets with lead tape. A 1.0 gram resolution probably would have been ok, but I'm really glad I got this scale with the 0.5 gram resolution. Works great, easy to use. Really fast delivery from Old Will, too.
