External CalibrationTo make sure you keep getting the best weight readings, it helps to calibrate your balance from time to time. The PX163/E has instructions to make calibrating easy. You'll just need to pick up a few calibration weights (not included) to get the job done.
Weighing HookSometimes the thing you need to weigh just won't fit on the scale's platform. Now that's a problem for most scales, but not the PX163/E Pioneer. This milligram balance has a weighing hook built right into the bottom. This hook works by pulling on the weighing platform when an item is hanging from it, just like if you were to put an item on top of the platform. This will come in handy for density determination, gravity calculation, and a lot more.
Does This Thing Count?You bet it does! All you need to do is weigh a sample amount of pieces, so the PX163/E can know how much each piece weighs, then start counting. You'll be finished in no time.
Average Piece WeightBefore you start counting your pieces, you need to let the PX-163/E know how much each piece weighs. Ohaus made this simple by averaging the weight of the pieces you put on the scale. Just type in how many pieces you put on the platform, and the Pioneer will average the weights. The bigger your sample is, the more accurate the balance will be when counting your pieces.
RS-232 & USB PortsThe PX163/E Pioneer has both RS232 and USB communication ports built in for easy communication with printers, computers, monitors and more.
Percent WeighingThis feature will let you compare the weights of your samples against a predetermined reference weight. This can be helpful with recipe formulation and adjusting batch sizes.
Protective Draft ShieldWhen you're weighing with milligram balances like this one, even the tiniest breeze can interfere with weight readings. This Ohaus balance comes with a durable windscreen to keep out those pesky drafts. Oh, and don't worry, the Pioneer makes it easy to put your items on, or take them off, the platform. Stainless Steel PlatformThe Pioneer series has a durable stainless steel weighing platform that doesn't scratch easily and will keep its shine without rusting or tarnishing.
Tare FeatureThe tare button on the front of the PX 163/E Pioneer can be pressed to "zero out" the weight on the balance. You can then add more weight, and the display will only show the weight of the item you're adding. This sure is useful when you want to use a separate weighing container, or get the weights of separate items.
Programmable Auto Printing FeatureThis lab balance will automatically print your data for you! Just tell the PX-163/E to to send the data at user selectable intervals, when the balance is stable, or to only send it when you press the print key. That's pretty handy, right?
Liquid Level Indicator & Adjustable FeetThis very handy feature helps you quickly and easily get your balance nice and level. All you have to do is adjust the feet on the bottom of the Pioneer until the spirit bubble is centered within the level indicator. A level balance is important for getting the most accurate weight readings.
Density DeterminationThe Ohaus Pioneer milligram balances can determine density of both liquids and solids. All you have to do is enter a couple of parameters into the balance, and the PX163/E will do the rest.
Dynamic WeighingThe PX-163/E milligram balance has a really cool dynamic weighing feature. This feature will allow you to accurately weigh unstable items by calculating the average weight of what's on the platform. Great for animal weighing.
Static Removal Bar Static can cause weight fluctuations and inaccurate weight readings, which is why Ohaus designed the PX163/E weighing chamber with a static removal bar. The bar is constructed of permanent static electric dissipative ABS and provides a convenient grounding location.
