Hinged Draftshield With Removable Lid When you're weighing with milligram scales like this one, even the tiniest breeze can interfere with weight readings. Ohaus designed the Scout milligram models with a draftshield to keep those pesky drafts from interfering with your weight readings. The draftshield is attached to the base of the balance and has a removable top for loading the platform.

1.5 Second Stabilization Time This portable balance is designed to give you accurate weight readings, fast. The SPX123 Scout stabilizes in a second and a half to improve operator efficiency and productivity.

Percent Weighing This feature will let you compare the weights of your samples against a predetermined reference weight. This can be helpful with recipe formulation and adjusting batch sizes.

Does This Thing Count? You bet it does! All you need to do is weigh a sample amount of pieces, so the SPX 123 can know how much each piece weighs, then start counting. You'll be finished in no time.

Average Piece Weight Before you start counting your pieces, you need to let the SPX-123 know how much each piece weighs. Ohaus made this simple by averaging the weight of the pieces you put on the platform. Just type in how many pieces you put on the platform, and the SPX123 will average the weights. The bigger your sample is, the more accurate the Scout will be when counting your pieces.

Checkweighing Make sure you get your weights just right with this balance's check weight feature. When you weigh in this mode, you can set weight limits for the stuff you're weighing. So, if your sample weight is too low or too high, the SPX-123 will surely let you know.

Totalization You can use this accumulation feature to weigh a sequence of items together. This is a great feature if you need a balance with cumulative weighing for compounding ingredients. It's even okay if your accumulated totals exceed the capacity of the Scout.

Display Hold & Peak Hold You can program the Scout to hold the last stable weight on the display, or set it to hold the highest weight value of the session on the display.

Stainless Steel Platform The Scout series has a durable stainless steel weighing platform that doesn't scratch easily and will keep its shine without rusting or tarnishing.

Weighing Hook Sometimes the thing you need to weigh just won't fit on the weighing platform. Now that's a problem for most scales, but not the SPX 123 Scout. This precision balance has a weighing hook built right into the bottom. This will come in handy for density determination, gravity calculation, and a lot more.

Integrated Transportation LockIf you plan to tote this thing around quite a bit, you'll be glad to find an integrated shipping lock right on the bottom of the balance. This lock will help prevent accidental overload and damage to your scale.

Menu & Calibration Lock Once you have all your settings just the way you want them you can lock the setup menu with a physical switch located on the bottom of the Scout. This will keep anyone else from changing any settings or performing calibration.

Liquid Level Indicator & Adjustable Feet This very handy feature helps you quickly and easily get your balance nice and level. All you have to do is adjust the feet on the bottom of the SPX-123 until the spirit bubble is centered within the level indicator. A level precision balance is important for getting the most accurate weight readings.

Overload Protection The Scout SPX was designed to withstand accidental overload up to 10 times the capacity of the balance. This alongside the high strength stainless steel pan and impact resistant pan support make for a long lasting, durable balance you can count on.

Programmable Auto-Off If you've ever had your scale turn off on you in the middle of important measurements, you'll realize what a blessing this feature is. You can program the Scout SPX 123 to turn off automatically, or to stay on until you turn it off yourself.

Programmable Backlit LCD You can program the backlight for the Scout SPX, too. If you work in dim environments, you can set the backlight to always on, or to turn on when you press a button or change the weight on the scale. If you don't really need a backlight at all, just set it to off. No unnecessary power use here.

Easy Calibration You'll have no problem at all calibrating this portable balance. Just use the included 100 gram weight to perform span calibration. If you want to calibrate the linearity of the balance, too, you'll need to pick up a 50 gram calibration weight. That one is not included.

Tare Feature The tare button on the front of the Ohaus Scout SPX can be pressed to "zero out" the weight on the balance. You can then add more weight, and the display will only show the weight of the item you're adding. This sure is useful when you want to use a separate weighing container, or get the weights of separate items.
