This scale takes up less counter space than my older scale. I like the 11-pound capacity, which is higher than a lot of kitchen scales. I do find it impossible to position a dinner plate where I can see the display, which makes it hard to weigh out equal portions.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but the curvy line dividing the weighing platform from the display is just part of the graphics. In reality the top of the scale is a single sheet of glass. The display and touch-sensitive buttons are under the glass, which makes the scale surface easy to clean with a damp rag without worrying about damaging the electronics. (That's been a problem with my previous kitchen scales.)

I took off one star because the fluid ounce feature ain't worth a hill of beans. Apparently someone in engineering didn't get the memo that a fluid ounce of water doesn't weigh exactly an ounce. (Or maybe it was marketing that didn't listen to the engineering folks--like that never happens!) I first noticed it when I tried to weigh out a cup of water (that's 8 fluid ounces, or about 8.33 ounces by weight). The water wasn't even close to the 8-ounce line on the measuring cup. My first thought was that the scale was out of calibration, but it checked out against my older scale. Then I realized that the scale was giving the exact same reading in "fluid ounces" as it did in "ounces," which is just plain wrong. The only difference is that when the scale reads 24 "fl oz," it reads 1 lb, 8 oz on the "oz" setting. Actually, a lot of times I prefer to see ounces instead of pounds and ounces, so I will probably be using the fluid ounce setting a lot.
